Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist, Cell Biology
Description:
Dicerna Pharmaceuticals is looking for a Senior Research Associate/Associate Scientist to help in its drug discovery efforts. This is a hands-on, bench research position that requires strong expertise in molecular and cellular methodologies, and will initially involve extensive molecular and cellular assay development and performance, aimed at advancing RNA delivery. This is a full-time position.
Requirements include:
- A Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years relevant experience or a Master’s Degree with 2+ years relevant experience, preferably in drug discovery and in an industry setting. Title will be commensurate with experience.
- Expertise in cellular and molecular biology (e.g., RNAi, mammalian cell culture, cell-based assays, quantitative real-time PCR, b-DNA assays, RNA isolation, western blotting, immunofluorescent staining, microscopy) and general familiarity with computers (Excel, data analysis) is essential.
- Experience with lab automation a plus.
- Ability to design and execute experiments, analyze and document the results, multi-task and complete goals within allotted time frames, and deliver high quality results
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well in a cross-functional team environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate results/scientific information in a group or individual setting.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to group projects in a team-oriented environment.

Senior/Principal Scientist, Formulation
Description:
This formulation scientist will contribute to our research and development projects for nucleic acids formulation and delivery. Working closely with internal resources and outside collaborators, this person will characterize and implement various formulation technologies for the delivery of nucleic acid therapeutics.
Responsibilities include:
The work assignments will be complex and require an in depth understanding of the properties of oligonucleotides and nanoparticles and their interactions with biological systems. The project assignments will require the abilities to plan and to implement scientific experiments and to explore novel drug delivery technologies based on rigorous scientific data in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
Requirements include:
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in drug product preformulation and formulation development and physicochemical characterization.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory guidance and CMC principles is a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on nanoparticle formulation development, characterization and fabrication processes including familiarity with process equipment.
- Hands-on experience in lipid-based formulation development is preferred.
- Familiarity with cell culture and cell and molecular biology characterization and quantification techniques such as qPCR, western and Northern blots, ELISA, hybridization assay, etc. is preferred.
- Experience with data analysis, report writing and data presentation in project teams and knowledge of appropriate software.
- Detail-oriented with good documentation practices.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
